Improving the quality of life for citizens in rural areas by building the capacities of rural communities is the main goal of rural development. Rural development fosters policies that build and strengthen local partnerships and provide easier access to information for local populations. At the same time, it conveys proposals from local residents to relevant institutions involved in creating and implementing sustainable development policies in rural areas.

The LEADER initiative represents an innovative approach within the EU’s rural development policy, encouraging inclusiveness and collaboration among all stakeholders involved in policymaking, decision-making, and the implementation of rural development activities. The LEADER measure focuses on creating new job opportunities and improving the standard of living for citizens in rural communities.
